Contractor Hobson & Porter has won contracts worth £2.3m to deliver two major facilities across the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust estate.

At Scunthorpe General Hospital, Hobson & Porter is refurbishing two ultra-clean canopy theatres. The work involves a full strip-out and comprehensive refurbishment within an existing live operating theatre environment, surrounded by adjacent theatres and support accommodation that will remain operational throughout.

The project includes significant building services alterations, plant room adaptations, air handling unit (AHU) installations, and full upgrades to floor, wall and ceiling finishes to meet stringent clinical and infection control standards.

Work has completed on the first operating theatre, and the refurbishment of the second operating theatre runs from this month to February 2027.

Hobson & Porter has also secured a further project at the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, where it will deliver a new paediatric audiology room, control room and waiting area within the main outpatient department.

The audiology project will involve demolishing part of a building, mechanical and electrical services installations and specialist audiology fit-out works.

Delivered within an operational hospital environment that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the project requires phased programming, careful isolation strategies and close co-ordination with NHS facilities teams to minimise disruption.

The contracts follow Hobson & Porter’s recent refurbishment of an MRI room at Grimsby Hospital, further strengthening its reputation for delivering complex healthcare projects within live clinical settings.

Sam Robertson from Hobson & Porter said:

“These contracts reflect the trust placed in our team to deliver highly technical healthcare environments where safety, precision and programming are critical. Working in live hospital settings demands collaboration and flexibility, and our teams are well versed in delivering complex refurbishment works to the highest standards.

“The theatre and audiology upgrades will make a tangible difference to patient care and clinical efficiency across the region, and we are very proud to be delivering these projects.”

These latest contracts continue Hobson & Porter’s growth in the healthcare and public sector, reinforcing its position as a key delivery partner for NHS capital improvement programmes across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
