The Tour of Britain is Coming to Lincolnshire!
The Tour of Britain is set to arrive in Lincolnshire this September, and it’s fantastic news for our county.
This high-profile, internationally recognised sporting event on 2nd September (Lincoln stage one) and 3rd September (Boston – Skegness stage two) will bring a surge of visitors to the area, boosting footfall across hospitality, retail and attractions.
With coverage beamed to audiences around the world, Lincolnshire will be in the spotlight, showcasing everything that makes our county unique.
The Tour of Britain is the UK's premier professional road cycling event and the largest free-to-attend sporting spectacle in the country. Held annually and overseen by British Cycling, it attracts top international teams and WorldTour riders.
Last year spectators travelled from far and wide; around one in five travelled more than 50 miles to attend and on average each visitor spent £224 on things like accommodation, food and drink, transport, shopping and parking.
Altogether, that added up to a huge £27.8 million in spending across the event, with stage one alone generating £6.5 million in income.
Now is the time to start thinking about how your business can get involved, engage visitors, and showcase what you do best. Keep an eye out for a dedicated business guide coming soon from Visit Lincolnshire with ideas to help you make the most of the Tour of Britain.
