Team Lincolnshire Ambassadors Collaborate to Secure Funding to Support Grass Pitch Improvements
Boston College has taken a significant step forward after receiving £35,200 from Lincolnshire FA Football Foundation’s Grass Pitch Maintenance Fund.
The funding will directly support pitch improvements at the College’s site, benefitting not only students but also the many grassroots teams who rely on the facility, including long-term partner club Boston Colts.
Essential to the Club’s Existence
Both the College and Boston Colts emphasised just how important this investment is for sustaining grassroots football in the area.
For Boston Colts, the quality of the pitches is fundamental to the club’s operations. More than 100 children train and play at the site each week, and that figure doesn’t include the many additional community users who also rely on the facilities.
Historically, the pitches have faced challenges, often leading to cancelled matches due to poor surface quality. The new funding will help break this cycle by raising pitch standards and ensuring the site becomes a more reliable venue throughout the season.
From the College’s perspective, the investment strengthens their ability to support local football, enabling Boston Colts and other grassroots users to enjoy consistent access to well-maintained playing surfaces.
Strengthening a Growing Partnership
The funding has not only improved the pitches, it has also deepened the relationship between Boston College and Boston Colts.
Both parties confirmed they are already planning to seek further investment, building on the momentum created by this project. One priority area includes securing additional goalposts, particularly to support local open-age teams who often face challenges accessing good-quality pitches and equipment.
This shared ambition reflects a wider goal: to ensure that the College continues to serve as a vibrant football hub for the local community.
Looking Ahead
This funding success story highlights the impact the Grass Pitch Maintenance Fund can have in supporting sustainable, high-quality grassroots football environments. By improving reliability and raising playing standards, the investment will benefit hundreds of local players for years to come.
More visits and case studies will be shared throughout the season as we continue to showcase positive investment into grassroots football across Lincolnshire.
