Team Lincolnshire Ambassador Industrial Rescue were the outright winners when they competed against other teams from across the UK in a Rescue from Height challenge in Bristol.

Teams from all over the country, including fire and rescue, ambulance, police and industrial outfits, tackled a series of unplanned rescue scenarios involving one of The Bristol Port Company’s cranes.

The scenarios tested the teams’ ability to quickly assess, plan and execute a variety of different rescues. Each scenario had its own complexities, from a 45m descent to rescue a casualty to lowering a casualty and a rescuer down through a route of snag hazards.

Industrial Rescue Director David Fillingham said:

“Competitions like these are a critical part of our training and development. They help keep our skills sharp and test us in ways that cannot be achieved on our own."

David further commented:

“The real value comes from getting the open and honest feedback that will make us better. The feedback we get from the assessors who come from across the rescue industry is invaluable – it feeds directly into the way we operate and train as an organisation.

“To be awarded first place on the day was an amazing feeling and a big pat on the back for all the effort that the team has put in, maintaining a gold standard service for our clients.

“We’re now looking at opportunities to bring something like this to Lincolnshire and help grow the safety and rescue skills in our local community as well as the fantastic work and continual development our local emergency services.”

The Industrial rescue team will now head to Beaumont in Belgium to represent our corner of the UK against teams from around Europe. Team Lincolnshire wishes them the very best of luck!
