Over the past year, Team Lincolnshire Ambassador James Dawson has raised over £2,500 for local hospice care charity St Barnabas Hospice.

The company’s Works Council initiative aims to improve four core aspects of the business focusing on wellbeing, social activities, communications and charity and community.

A charity of the year was selected last year by council members who voted to support St Barnabas in June 2022 and since then a number of activities have been planned, from monthly raffles to pub quizzes and bake sales.

With the support and involvement from everyone in the business, staff have raised £1,640 with the company contributing an additional £1,000 to bring the final total to an impressive £2,640.

Steven Downing, Marketing Co-ordinator,said: “It’s been a fantastic year supporting St Barnabas and everyone here is exceptionally happy with the amount raised. The charity and community team have put a staggering amount of effort into planning and organising the events and it's great to be able to support such an incredible local charity.”

Caroline Swindin, St Barnabas Fundraising and Development Manager, said: “Each year we need to raise over £6 million to keep providing care to people living with a life-limiting or terminal illness. The money raised by James Dawson is such a huge help and we are very grateful to everyone who has supported our charity by participating in the raffles, quizzes and other initiatives. A big ‘thank you’ from everyone at St Barnabas Hospice, your support means the world to us.”

This year employees gave suggestions on which Lincolnshire charities they would like to see supported before a shortlist was made which includes:

  • St Barnabas Hospice

  • Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance

  • Jerry Green Dog Rescue

  • The Bearded Fishermen

  • LIVES

Voting took place in May to choose the new charity of the year with the final votes being counted.
