Enterprise advisers

Calling all Team Lincolnshire ambassadors! Employers like you are vital to help bridge the gap between education and employment for young people throughout Greater Lincolnshire.

We know that what we experience informs where we go. For young people, meeting employers and experiencing different workplaces is a key element in helping them find their best next step.

We're calling on our Team Lincolnshire ambassadors: employers like you are vital to help bridge the gap between education and employment and there are lots of ways you can support young people and school leaders, provide personal development for your staff and identify new talent pipelines for employees.

Your skills and knowledge can shine a spotlight on your sector, showing young people the variety of options open to them in the future.

As you may know, a key part of our work with schools and colleges is to connect education to business. The main mechanism for this is recruiting Enterprise Advisers (EAs), volunteers from local organisations (e.g. private, public, self-employed, not-for-profits) who support a local school or college and act as a representative from the world of work. Some of our EAs are very hands-on and some are very strategic. The role isn’t a one-size-fits-all; it really depends what the school needs support with and what the individual wants to get out of the experience. EAs are supported by Enterprise Coordinators in the Greater Lincolnshire LEP team who will find the right school for the EA and facilitate the relationship.

There are currently around 30 schools/colleges from across Greater Lincolnshire that need support from an Enterprise Adviser.

Inspire the next generation by sharing your career story:

The Greater Lincolnshire LEP works with schools and colleges to improve careers education for young people. Your skills and knowledge can showcase your sector, showing young people the variety of options open to them in the future. Get involved by:

1. Becoming an Enterprise Adviser

Enterprise Advisers are matched to a local school and work with the Senior Leadership team to improve careers provision for young people. In recent months, Enterprise Advisers have been able to affect change in schools by sharing their skills as strategic leaders. On a practical level, Enterprise Advisers have been able to support schools by opening up a new network of employer and business contacts, allowing young people to access work experience opportunities and discover more about the world of work in their local area. All of our volunteers receive full training and support from a dedicated Enterprise Coordinator (member of the LEP team). Find out more here: Rewrite the Story.

2. Signing up to 'Give an Hour'

Volunteers register to receive opportunities to volunteer in schools by delivering workshops, attending careers fairs and supporting young people directly. There is no set time commitment expected for this opportunity, however our volunteers say that presenting in schools and colleges is hugely rewarding and allows the individual to promote their business and sector opportunities.
