Team Lincolnshire ambassadors help deliver prestigious development at Food Enterprise Zone

It’s an exciting time at the South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone (FEZ) near Holbeach which now has almost a dozen plots provisionally allocated to businesses.
The FEZ is a pioneering development which is being delivered by a partnership consisting of the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Lincolnshire County Council, South Holland District Council and the University of Lincoln.
Several Team Lincolnshire members are at the heart of this prestigious scheme, playing a major role in delivering the project and helping create one of Greater Lincolnshire’s most exciting and beneficial developments.
The vison of the FEZ is to create bespoke, high quality employment space for new businesses and SMEs specifically in the agri-tech sector, and it is already attracting interest and investment on a global scale.
Gleeds, one of the founder members of Team Lincolnshire, are project managing the Holbeach based project. Anglian Water are implementing the water and sewerage facilities. Whilst William Saunders have also been involved with the site supervision in the early stages of development.
One of the key companies driving the project is RG Carter which is the lead contractor for the construction of the Hub building.
Team Lincolnshire is proud that this prestigious project is being driven by a collaboration of our ambassadors. It is a terrific example of how Team Lincolnshire is fuelling the local supply chain, supporting the future economy of the county and giving Team Lincolnshire members opportunity to work on some of our most significant projects.
The multi-use space will provide small and medium-sized business tenants with support services, networking, meeting and events space and catering.
The principal behind this building is to nurture collaboration between businesses and partners in the agri-tech industries so they can share ideas and be at the heart of innovation, reinforcing the commitment Greater Lincolnshire has to become a world class destination in this industry.
RG Carter and Lincolnshire County Council also appointed Team Lincolnshire ambassadors Core Architects to be the leading design team for the Hub. The building is being funded by Lincolnshire County Council and the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership through the Government's 'Getting Building Fund' (GBF).
Pygott and Crone were appointed Commercial agents in 2020 and have played a pivotal role in attracting investment onto the site. More recently Green Trumpet Design were appointed to create the branding for the Hub building.
Phase one of the scheme is already progressing well with the University of Lincoln recently completing a brand new "Centre of Excellence" on the site.
In addition, a further 28 acre site has been acquired by LCC and South Holland District Council to form part of phase two of the FEZ. This is strategically important in safeguarding the delivery of this prestigious development, generating employment opportunities and investment to the area.
The FEZ is gaining national recognition as providing an ideal environment for companies involved in innovation for the food sector, providing bespoke facilities and a hub for R&D and collaboration. It will cement South Lincolnshire's reputation as a major centre for agri-tech, boasting a high concentration of cutting-edge companies, cultivating innovation in areas such as robotics, automation, well-being, low carbon and packaging.
Team Lincolnshire has been pivotal in promoting the FEZ to a worldwide audience; delivering several key events to showcase its unique assets and the wider strengths of the food sector through the UK Food Valley initiative.
This included working with the renowned marketing and events agency 3FOX who specialise in bringing public and private sector together. The two webinars hosted by Team Lincolnshire and 3FOX in 2021 attracted a global audience and resulted in bringing significant interest from agri-tech businesses wanting to locate to the FEZ.
In addition, Team Lincolnshire has developed an Agrifood Investment Sector Proposition and this together with the High Potential Opportunity in Automation in Food Processing is helping to attract a significant number of food sector enquiries. Lincolnshire County Council together with partners are supporting these businesses to land in the region.
