Spotlight on Shooting Star: Celebrating 17 Years in Business

Team Lincolnshire Ambassador Shooting Star is an award-winning PR, marketing and digital agency based in Lincolnshire and serving clients across the UK.

In 2006 Directors Kate Strawson and Jez Ashberry noticed a gap in the market when it came to PR support in Lincoln, and 17 years later the company has grown to provide a wide range of marketing services.

Shooting Star now boasts a team of eight staff members and a diverse roster of clients across the country (including some other Team Lincolnshire Ambassadors), and we spoke to Kate and Jez about running a business for 17 years and the lessons they’ve learnt along the way.

The Industry

Although the PR and marketing industry has changed and grown over the years, Shooting Star’s mission has always been the same: to build great relationships with its clients and to deliver imaginative PR and marketing that helps them thrive.

Kate said: “Over the last 17 years we have grown to offer more services based on our clients' needs, including digital marketing, social media, SEO and more.

“It can sometimes be difficult as a business owner to keep up with such an ever-changing industry, but offering the services our clients need has always been most important to us.

“The industry certainly hasn’t stopped evolving either, especially now with the increased use of AI, so I’m sure our services will continue to change and adapt.”

Experimenting with new technologies and finding the most effective way to support its clients' needs is a priority for Shooting Star.

Office Move

Alongside celebrating its 17th birthday, the company has also recently moved into a new office space at Think Tank, Lincoln’s business innovation centre.

The move has allowed the Shooting Star team to expand into more modern premises offering room for growth, opportunities to collaborate with other businesses and better accessibility.

To celebrate the office move and its birthday, the agency welcomed over 40 clients, suppliers and business relations to its Birthday Bash event.

Kate commented: “It was great to see so many clients and business acquaintances from over the years and to reflect on how far we’ve come as an agency.”

The new office space is perfect for encouraging creativity, perfect for brainstorming, client meetings and workshops!

The Future

Shooting Star has had a busy year so far, but they don’t seem to be slowing down just yet!

Jez said: “So far this year we have welcomed new clients and new team members, won an award, launched a new creative campaign and moved office – so it’s fair to say it's been a busy one!

“We’re not slowing down yet though and next month we’ll be hosting our annual Chippy Quiz night in aid of BRIC, our Charity of the Year!”

Giving back to the community, Shooting Star offers pro bono marketing, PR and digital support to a different charity each year.

“Since the inception of our Chippy Quiz fundraiser in 2013 we’ve raised thousands of pounds for charity and we’re looking forward to increasing that total in support of BRIC this year,” said Jez.

“Looking forward into the start of next year, we’re looking forward to welcoming new clients, growing our business and adapting to new trends in the industry.”
