Longhurst Group and RizkMcCayTribe collaborate to keep colleagues safe

A chance conversation between two Team Lincolnshire companies has enabled one member to secure PPE gear to office based colleagues

One of the largest housing groups in the Midlands and East of England, Longhurst Group provides over 23,000 homes and delivers a wide range of care and support services. Operating in 50 local authority areas, they have over 1,200 colleagues, ten office bases and over 80 care and support locations.

Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, Team Lincolnshire members have been supporting each other through virtual catch up meetings, such as the weekly #TLC Coffee Clubs, which have proved to be a lifeline for many businesses.

Long- time supporter of Team Lincolnshire John McCay, Creative Director at the branding and marketing agency RizkMcCayTribe and Nick Worboys Director of Development and Sales at Longhurst Group enjoyed a general virtual catch up to share issues, concerns and opportunities amid the Covid lockdown.

Nick raised the issue of the supply shortage of PPE and the how the Group is looking after  their customers and colleagues. John realised that he could have a solution to provide face masks; his local Nottinghamshire cycling club (Beeston.CC) use a local supplier Godfrey Sport who produce their racing kit.

John was keen to recommend them, as not only is the quality of their work superb they also manufacture all of their products locally. Therefore if this connection resulted in an order then Godfery Sport could bring some of their machinists back into employment.

Tom Godfrey, Director at Godfrey Sports liaised with the Longhurst Group's Procurement Department and produced various branded designs and samples that met NHS standards. Final branded face masks were approved and the first batch has now been delivered.

A small number of Longhurst Group colleagues working in offices are currently trialling this initial order, and so far are very impressed with the look and feel of the product.  If these prove successful as more people return to offices they will increase the order for the coming months.

John McCay, Director at RizkMcCayTribe explains:

“This is a great example of the power of Team Lincolnshire which started by simple catch up chat with Nick at the Longhurst Group. RizkMcCayTribe are proud to have played a part in this great news story.”

Nick Worboys added; "A chance conversation with John from RizkMcCayTribe on our current challenges within Longhurst Group, procuring PPE for our office-based colleagues, lead to an introduction to Tom and his team at Godfreys. Through this network, we now have bespoke masks that meet our needs and the protection of our colleagues and customers. We really are delighted with the service and product"

This is another terrific example of how Team Lincolnshire members continue to support and collaborate with each other; even more so during these challenging times!
