Nattergal purchased its flagship site, Boothby Wildland, Lincolnshire, in December 2021. Boothby is a 617 hectare former arable farm in South Kesteven with variable grade 3 soil types.
Following lessons learnt from Knepp Wildland in Sussex, Boothby has been gradually retreating from arable farming and preparing to let nature take the lead.
Boothby's restoration is funded via blended finance, with one of the key mechanisms being the sale of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) units. Nattergal is a trusted partner for BNG to national and local developers, as well as some of the UK's biggest Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.Nattergal can support Lincolnshire businesses, in particular through Boothby Wildland, by providing access to high-integrity BNG units for developments.
